Test Date

Your vehicle's test cycle is determined in accordance with state and federal requirements. In most cases, you will receive an official notification letter with a generous time period before your vehicle's test date. However, if you recently purchased a used vehicle that was previously registered in Connecticut, you will not receive a notification letter.

It is your obligation to have your vehicle tested within 30 days of its registration date with or without a notification letter. If you do not have the vehicle tested, it does not pass, or has not been granted a waiver within the testing cycle, DMV will not renew the vehicle's registration.

Your current mailing address is needed to notify you about your new test date. Check the address on your vehicle registration. If it is incorrect you must, by law, correct it. You can change your address online at dmvct.org or at any DMV office.

To serve you better, call for an appointment and enjoy a cup of our Green Mountain Coffee.
Please call (860) 774-1174 for an appointment. Emission testing hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Note that we also test diesel engines.
